These were from a happy time in Moscow when I was friendly with a group of artists and graphic designers. We did a lot of outdoor drawing and sketching at different locations. Sometimes we’d be out for up to six hours, noticing things and looking at the city as a model and a character. We’d also make excursions to other cities around Moscow. There is something special about being in a public space with many like-minded people. The connections that were made there were different from going out with friends, because we were from different walks of life, but with drawing in common. Many of us were enthusiastic about travel, but it wasn’t practical to organize group trips abroad. Someone had the idea of going to the same international locations on Google Earth. I was starting to experiment with pen and ink at that time, and I picked up this habit and started drawing Google Earth images on my own. The locations here include Madiera, Thailand, Brazil and Cuba.
